About Beit Sefer

Beit Sefer means House of Books. But AARC’s school offers students much more. K-7th graders enjoy interactive, creative group activities as well as individual attention.

Students meet once a week on Sundays from 10-noon. On most weeks, the Jewish Community Center of Greater Ann Arbor is our home. Once a month, we meet at an Ann Arbor farm just north of town. Children learn through song, art, movement, and theater. We study life cycle rituals, holidays, the history of the Jewish people, diversity, prayers, care for our Earth, and the Hebrew language. Students start to wrestle with big questions and find ways to make Jewish values a part of every day life. AARC respects the diversity of views, customs, and backgrounds of every family. Students’ personal connections to Judaism are vital to the continuity of our community.

Beit Sefer offers families an optional interactive app for students to improve their Hebrew literacy at home. With Shalom Hebrew, students do online activities, play games, and practice reading. Please email school@aarecon.org to learn more about our school.
